I just recently began to plan on opening up one for my kids after learning of the insane amount of compound interest this can earn over their lifetime! It basically can fund their retirement for them by the time they’re like 25 years old. Thanks for breaking this down and validating this amazing opportunity of kid Roths! We will beat you, System!! I need a glass of wine before reading this. IRAs are a mystery wrapped in an enigma and I feel like I've already tied myself in financial knots.

I fear that all my posts require some sort of sedative before reading.

The parting shot is one of my favorite sets of sentences I have ever read. Couldn't agree more!

Great analogy with the sunscreen! (Note to self: buy new sunscreen)

Nice article. Traditional IRAs (and 401ks) are more popular than Roth, perhaps the biggest reason is that the rules for Roth are now quite a bit better but most people do NOT trust the government not to change them and make them worse, AGAIN. It might be useful to tackle that in one of your up coming parts.... Personally my Roth IRA has a lot of my investments in it. Hoping that congress leaves it alone..
